Special Events which may impact on Major Metropolitan Roads
August 2008
Brisbane City (30 August 2008)
Due to the staging of this year’s Riverfire event on 30 August the following road closures will be occurring. It is anticipated that these closures will cause moderate to significant traffic congestion and delays. Bridge closures: VICTORIA BRIDGE - Traffic lanes closed 4pm to 11pm (the Victoria Bridge traffic lanes will become available to pedestrians between 5pm and 9.30pm). GOODWILL BRIDGE - Closed to pedestrians 3.30pm to 8.00pm. No pedestrian or cyclist access to Goodwill Bridge between 3.30pm and 8.00pm. STORY BRIDGE - Western footpath (City side) closed to pedestrians from 1.30pm to 8.30pm. Eastern footpath (Dockside) closed to pedestrians between 6.30pm and 8.00pm. No pedestrian access to Story Bridge between 6.30pm until 8.00pm. Closed to traffic from approximately 6.30pm to 8.00pm. CAPTAIN COOK BRIDGE - Captain Cook Bridge remains open at all times with the inbound and outbound left lanes closed between 6.50pm and 7.30pm only. RIVERWALK - Riverwalk between Boundary St (City) and Merthyr Rd (New Farm) will close in the interests of safety from 6.00pm until approximately 8.00pm. CBD STREET CLOSURES: 4pm to 11pm - William St between Elizabeth St and Queen St, both riverside lanes. 7.30pm to 8.30pm - William St (full road closure) between Elizabeth St and Queen St. 4pm to 11pm - Queens Wharf Rd between William St and turnaround at the Commissariat. 4pm to 11pm - Adelaide St between George St and North Quay, southbound traffic only. 4pm to 11pm - North Quay between Ann St and Queen St, closed to general traffic 7.30pm to 8.30pm - George St between Elizabeth St and Burnett Lane.

Road closures continued for Riverfire Event FORTITUDE VALLEY: 6.30pm to 8pm - Gipps St. No access to Story Bridge, right turn only into Ann St. 6.30pm to 8pm - Ann St - Slip lane to the Story Bridge closed. 6.30pm to 8pm - Ivory St and Brunswick - No access to the Story Bridge. 6.30pm to 8pm - Martin St and Brunswick St - No access to the Story Bridge. 6.30p to 8pm - Ivory St and Boundary St - No access to the Story Bridge. KANGAROO POINT: Noon to 9.30pm - River Tce between Main St and Leopard St. Noon to 9.30pm - Leopard St between River Tce and Vulture St. Noon to 9.30pm - Service Rd - below the Kangaroo Point Cliffs at Captain Cook Bridge. Noon to 9.30pm - Ellis St - Open only for right turn into Leopard St. Noon to 9.30pm - Mark Lane - Open only for left turn into Leopard St. SOUTHBANK: 4pm to 9.30pm - Grey St closed to southbound traffic between Peel St and Melbourne. 4pm to 9.30pm - Grey St between Vulture St and Glenelg St. 7.15pm to 9.30pm - Grey St between Melbourne St and Glenelg St. 4pm to 11pm - Melbourne St between Merivale St and the Victoria Bridge. 4pm to 11pm - Hope St - Closed at the intersection of Fish Lane. 7.15pm to 9.30pm - Tribune St between Colchester St and Grey St. 7.15pm to 9.30pm - Vulture St closed to eastbound traffic at intersection of Gladstone Rd. Little Stanley St - Closed between Glenelg St and Tribune St from midnight 30 August to 3pm 2 September. Continuous closure - Ernest St between Merivale St and Colchester St. MT GRAVATT LOOKOUT 4pm to 8pm - Lookout at Shire Rd and Gosford St.
Holland Park (30 August 2008)
Due to the staging of the Islamic Society’s Centenary Celebrations a full road closure will be occurring at Crest Street between Thelma Street and Nursery Road from 5.00am and 6.00pm on 30 August 2008. It is anticipated that the closure will cause minor traffic congestion and delays.
Suncorp Stadium (31 August 2008)
The Roar v Mariners Hyundai A League game will be held at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday 31st August. The only closures for this event will be Castlemaine St between Heussler Tce and Black St, and Parkview and Mayneview St which may be accessed by vehicles attending local businesses. To facilitate safe pedestrian movement from the CBD to the stadium, the bus lane running along Caxton St along Petrie Tce /Upper Roma St to Skew St will be closed from 4pm. Motorists are advised that delays may be expected around Suncorp leading up to the event. Motorists attending the event should also be aware of the 15 minute parking restriction that applies to the Suncorp Traffic Area on match days.

Due to the staging of this year’s Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run on 7 September 2008 the following road closures will be occurring. It is anticipated that these closures will cause moderate to significant traffic congestion and delays Race Details: 10km Course - Starting Point: Lytton Road, Lytton. Route: Lytton Road, Gateway Motorway (south bound lanes), Links Ave Nth, Kingsford Smith Drive, Inner City Bypass, Mayne Road, Hamilton Road, O’Connell Terrace and terminate at the RNA Showgrounds. 5km Course - Starting Point: Remora Road, Hamilton. Route: Remora Road, Kingsford Smith Drive, Inner City Bypass, Mayne Road, Hamilton Road, O’Connell Terrace and terminate at the RNA Showgrounds. ROAD CLOSURES MURARRIE 4.00am to 8.15am - Lytton Road from Creek Road to Paringa Road (including Lytton Rd on and off ramp). 4.00am to 8.00am - Administration Rd. 4.00am to 8.00am - Queensport Rd from Railway Tce to Lytton Rd. 3.30am to 9.30am - Gateway Motorway - southbound lanes between Links Ave and Lytton Road off ramp. 2.30am to 9.30am - Links Avenue on ramp. EAGLE FARM 2.30am to 9.30am - Links Ave North from the Gateway Motorway to Kingsford Smith Drive (southbound lanes). 3.30am to 9.30am Links Ave North from the Gateway Motorway to Kingsford Smith Drive (northbound lanes). 2.30am to 9.30am - Gateway Motorway - Cullen Avenue on ramp. 6.00am to 10.30am - Gateway Motorway - Fison Avenue off ramp. 6.00am to 10.30am - Fison Ave West from Eagleview Place to Kingsford Smith Drive. 6.00am to 10.30am - Remora Rd from Hercules St to Kingsford Smith Drive. 6.00am to 10.30am - Kingsford Smith Drive inbound lanes between Links Ave North to Breakfast Creek Rd.

The Queensland Roar vs Newcastle Jets Hyundai A-League game will be held at Suncorp Stadium on Friday 19th September from 8 pm. Motorists are advised that there are localised road closures around Suncorp Stadium for up to an hour following the game and that 15 minute parking restrictions apply to the Suncorp Traffic Area on match days.

Motorists are advised that there are localised road closures around Suncorp Stadium for up to an hour following the game and that 15 minute parking restrictions apply to the Suncorp Traffic Area on match days.
